From Classics to Interaction Design
I've always had a passion for learning, with a particular fondness for Art, History, English, Technology, Science, and Politics. When I entered university, I discovered Classics—a field that seamlessly blended all my favorite subjects and introduced new ones like Ancient Languages, Archaeology, and Mythology. I even dreamt of becoming an archaeologist.
After earning my Bachelor's degree, I was unsure about my next academic step. With so many interests, choosing a Master's program felt overwhelming. I decided to take a break from school and work instead.
During this time, I worked various retail jobs before finding a position at the National Student Loans Service Centre. Over 11 years, I helped students navigate the repayment of their Canadian government student loans. This role honed my ability to connect with people using only my voice and taught me to discern their true needs beyond their stated wants.
Craving a career change, I decided to return to school. I stumbled upon Interaction Design, a field that was life-changing. It allowed me to leverage my customer service skills, delve into all my interests, and explore new technologies and coding.
In 2022, I graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Interaction Design from Sheridan College, where I also won a research award and earned Sheridan's Certificate in Creativity. Not bad for a second act!
Today, I happily work in User Experience, engaging in design, research, and the occasional art project.
